As the pace of modern life increases, the timeless practice of Yoga Nidra remains an effective tool for finding balance in our modern age.  This training is for anyone interested in the history, science and benefits of Yoga Nidra, and how to develop your own authentic voice and the tools to offer many variations to serve the needs of various populations. Join 500E-RYT and YACEP Yoga Teacher, Steven Wolf, for this 15-hour training, and you too can experience the true power of Yoga Nidra’s systematic approach toward fostering deep relaxation, and the restoration of your own capacity for self-healing.

This course provides thorough instruction and practice opportunities to learn how to lead a full yoga nidra practice or a shorter guided relaxation. Steve Wolf mastered this art on his yoga nidra CDs. Now he teaches how to develop this skill. The course is a must for those interested in diving deeper into this kind of inner practice."

The Experience

This first evening is all about getting comfortable,  and getting to know the CYANWOOD space, the training facilitator, and the training outline.

The training begins with a brief introduction and an overview of the history of Yoga Nidra. Friday night’s activities will include a short gentle yoga class leading into an extended guided Yoga Nidra session.

DAY ONE

Saturday is dedicated to exploring and experiencing Savasana and Yoga Nidra through foundational discussions (and practices) of the following topics: Theming Savasana, Rolling right or left, Svadhyaya and Chalana, the Transformative power of Yoga Nidra, Sleep and Stress, Hypnosis versus Yoga Nidra, 8 Limbs of Yoga and Yoga Nidra.

Steve will guide participants through practices, including a sample led Savasana: "Breath Sanctuary" and 15 minute Hatha stretches.  Saturday evening will conclude with time for questions.

DAY THREE

Sunday the discussions and practices continue through the concepts of the use of language for Yoga Nidra and Savasana, finding your own authentic voice, and the depiction of the "Homunculus Man" - a depiction of human experience through sensory perception.

In small groups participants will get to apply what they've learned through practice teaching and discussions.

   Participants will be introduced to the history and science of Yoga Nidra, and discover the many benefits, including improved focus, attention and memory, enhanced self-awareness, deep mental and physical restoration, stress management, increased creativity, improved management of Samskaras (old habits), knowledge of the true meaning of relaxation, and even an awakening true personal potential. Participants will also be introduced to numerous variations which can be tailored to suit different populations, and explore how these tools can be adapted for Savasana, or for shorter more meditative sessions.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Steve first discovered both Yoga and martial arts as a child and has taught in the mind-body field for over forty years. Inspried by the teachings of is aunt who introduced him to Yoga, Steve went on to be mentored by IYT Instructor Jackie Novak for six years, followed by extensive studies with many teachers, including Michael Carroll, Angela Farmer, Victor van Kooten, Gary Kraftsow, Erich Schiffmann, Rod Stryker, JJ Gormley, Judith Lasater, Barbara Benagh, Baxter Bell and many others.  In 2005, he founded Awase Publishing to distribute Yoga related media around the world, and his pioneering Yoga Nidra recordings were among the first in their genre.  ‘Relax Deeply,’ ‘Sleep and Breathe Deeply’ and ‘Savasana’ have become classics in the genre and are still being used in a number of teacher training programs around the country, including as part of the pre-op routine for cancer patients at the Johns Hopkins and Weinberg Cancer Center, and as part of the recovery program for returning war vets with PTSD at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  To learn more about Steve, check out his website, publishing page, and facebook links:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

​

WHERE WILL THE TRAINING BE HELD?

This training will take place in CYANWOOD Natural Lifestyles Center, located at 2704 Spotswood Trail, Suite B in Harrisonburg, VA. We’ll be in the space on the second floor. Please note that there is no elevator access, however, the stairs have been updated to ADA standards, and there is a handrail and split level. The large space on the second floor contains 2 windows that open and accommodations for sitting in a chair, on a mat, on a cushion, or reclining with bolsters and blankets. There is a restroom onsite and plenty of parking. The space provides a calming atmosphere, with live plants, battery-operated candles, and ample natural light.

 

DO I NEED TO BE PRESENT IN-PERSON FOR ALL SESSIONS?

It is highly recommended that you attend all sessions in-person to partake in the experiential learning. We will not be offering remote access to any of the sessions or recording the training. For RYTs, in order to receive all 15 CE hours through the Yoga Alliance you must be present in-person for all sessions.

 

HOW IS THE TRAINING FORMATTED?

This training includes powerpoint presentations, experiential learning, and individual and group practice-teaching.  Participants will get a 75-minute lunch break on Saturday and Sunday, and may take breaks freely, as needed.

 

​WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO ACHIEVE THROUGH THIS TRAINING?

Participants will be introduced to the basics of experiencing and leading Savasana and Yoga Nidra, which have been shown to:

- Improve focus & attention
- Improve memory
- Enhance self-awareness
- Improve capacity for deep mental and physical restoration
- Help with stress management
- Increase creativity

 

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THIS TRAINING?

An extensive digital training manual will be shared with participants in a PDF format, but we recommend that participants bring their own notebook/journal and a pen. You’re welcome to bring your own mat and props, or use the available mats, yoga blocks, bolsters, and blankets in the space. There is a filtered water-dispenser, so feel free to bring a refillable water bottle. On Saturday and Sunday, please bring your packed lunch and any snacks. The space does not have a fridge or microwave on site.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

If a registered participant needs to cancel, here is our refund policy:

 - We provide full refunds, minus a $50 non-refundable administration fee, for any cancellation that is processed by May 4th, 2023.

 - We provide a 50% refund for any cancellation that is processed between May 5th and May 11th, 2023.

 - Generally, a cancellation 1 week before the training is non-refundable, except in special situations, as determined on a case-by-case basis, at the facilitator's sole discretion.
